Homeopathy

More than 200 years ago, Samuel Hahnemann, a German doctor, discovered homeopathy. This system of medicine uses simple, single ingredients that can elicit a potent healing response in humans and animals. Research in this field continues today as more and more people recognize the value of this form of medicine.

Homeopathy may be used to treat either an acute or a chronic animal disease. For an acute disease, such as an injury, snakebite, insect sting or even infection, homeopathy can be very effective in relieving pain and damage caused by the inciting incident.

For homeopathic treatment to be effective, a pet owner must commit to sticking with the medicine and modality and to providing the veterinarian with very specific details of the animal’s symptoms before and after the remedy is given.  In a chronic case, the patient is followed closely with monthly updates to determine the next step and dosing of the remedy as the patient improves.  Acute cases are often treated once and healing follows with no need for further treatment.

Case Study

Patch, a 1-year-old female spayed cat presented late one Saturday night with a history of running back and forth to the litter box all afternoon. On examining the cat, we found she had a small bladder and the owner noted that she found a pink strand of mucous in the litterbox that day. A diagnosis of urinary tract inflammation was made and a homeopathic remedy prescribed. The remedy was given that night and by the next day she had recovered completely and her normal urination habits had returned.

Testimonial

Heidi, my 13.5-year-old dog, is still with me thanks to the care of Dr. Lori . Her holistic approach to care and knowledge of Chinese medicine, herbal supplements and acupuncture helped to balance Heidi’s various problems.
